Ok, so I know I haven't posted on here in absolutely ages, I do apologise. Anyway lets not dwell on my lack of motivation and discipline and lets look at this weeks Guitar Hero instead. This hero hails from the biggest metal band on the planet, no question. They formed in 1981 and he was part of the original line up. They appealed to both mainstream and die-hard metal fans and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. They have had 9 studio albums since they formed with their best selling being their self-titled "Metallica" album or "The Black Album" as most fans call it. So who is this weeks Guitar Hero? Well it can't be Hammet because we've already covered him. It is, of course, the amazingly talented James Hetfield.

Forgive me Father for I have sinned, it has been 7 weeks since my last Hero Worship post. But what a way to carry on the Worship with a great, if not weird looking guitarist. He comes from a band that first formed in 1976, but had their most success in the 80's. He is often considered as one of the pioneering guitarists of the Alternative Rock and Indie music scene. The band have sold more than 27 Million Albums worldwide and have their main success in the United States. They have had 13 studio albums to date with their eight studio album, Disintegration being their most successful with both critics and fans alike. Rolling Stone magazine placed Disintegration at 326 in their list of the 500 best albums and it sold over three million copies worldwide. So who is this amazing guitarist and amazing Alternative band? Well the band is of course, The Cure. And the legendary guitarist is the gothic-looking frontman, Robert Smith.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Guitar Duel! It's been a couple of weeks I know but I have been busy sorting some stuff out. Lets take a look at the result of the last Guitar Duel between Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore. Well surprisingly to me, Blackmore won with 71% of the votes. Anyway now onto this weeks duel. It's a bit of a contrast from last weeks as we see two 90s Giants go head to head instead of two metal guru's. And this week plays out a real life duel that these two had back in the mid-90s. Their bands, Oasis and Blur respectively, or more so their record labels, decided to release a song that would come out on the same day as each other. This was Oasis' Roll With It and Blur's Country House. It sparked a media frenzy and fans rushed out to buy their albums to help their favourite band go to number one. In the end it was Blur who won that battle, even if Oasis did end up winning the war. But who are the two guitarists from these bands, I hear you ask. Well as if they need an introduction, its Noel Gallagher and Graham Coxon. Both being featured on this blog in past posts, with Noel in my top 10 most influential guitarists and Coxon on my Hero Worship.

Hello everyone and welcome to another Hero Worship post where I look at an amazing Guitar Hero. This week see's the turn of one of the legendary Metallica guitarists. This guy definitely deserves to be mentioned in this Hero Worship series. He played through the 80s, 90s and 00's and continues to rock today. He has helped Metallica sell over 100 Million albums worldwide and in 2003 Rolling Stone placed him as 11th Best Guitarist Of All Time. He was also, along with the rest of Metallica, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame last year. He has contributed in lots of the writing for Metallica, a lot on their 90s album Load. His crowning moments though have came in many riffs, licks and sizes. No more so than Metallica's most commercially successful song, Enter Sandman. So who is this magical guitar wizard? Well of course it's none other than Kirk Hammett. A true god.

Hello everyone and welcome to another post in the series of Guitar Duel, where I pit two of the worlds best guitarists against each other and you guys have to vote who is best. Firstly lets look at the last Guitar Duel, two weeks ago, between two of Ireland's finest guitarists; Rory Gallagher and The Edge. Well, you guys did get voting well didn't you, at first The Edge was in front but then Rory Gallagher stormed away with it, having 71 votes to The Edge's 16. Anyway now lets get onto this weeks amazing Duel between two of rocks heavier guitarists. Today we go back mainly to the 70's and we have some of guitars most icon riffs tied in with this weeks guitarists. One pioneered Heavy Metal due to an unfortunate accident with his hand and the other produced the most instantly recognisable riff of all time. Of course they are Black Sabbath's, Tony Iommi and Deep Purple's, Ritchie Blackmore.
