{ Lick That Riff! }

Hello everybody and welcome to the second edition of the weekly feature, Guitar Duel. Last week saw Jimmy Page take on Keith Richards and to be honest I thought it might have been more of a contest. But you voted 11 for Page and just 2 for Richards. So Jimmy Page won that Guitar Duel by a landslide.

But now onto this weeks Duel. A tasty affair indeed.

They hail from two of the biggest Rock bands in history. One classed more as Heavy Metal, one more as Hard Rock. They formed 8 years apart in 1973 and 1981. The bands are of course, AC/DC and Metallica. They both have one song each in Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks with Back In Black, and Master Of Puppets. Both Guitarists have also been inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame with their respecitve bands.

I’m sure you know who these guitarists are. It is obviously Angus Young from AC/DC and Kirk Hammett from Metallica. Both amazing Guitarists who Rock! But who is the better guitarist?

Before you decide, let me tell you a little more about them:

Kirk Hammett – Bio

Born: 18 November, 1962

Started Playing: 15 Years Old

Influences: Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Kiss

Early Work: Exodus

Band That Made Him: Metallica

Other Projects: The Spastik Children

Guitar: ESP KH-2

Best Known For: One, Master Of Puppets

Guitar Accolades: Placed at 11th in Rolling Stone Magazines 100 Greatest Guitarists. Also inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame last year.

Angus Young – Bio

Born: 31 March, 1955

Started Playing: 11 Years Old

Influenced: Muddy Waters, Led Zeppelin

Early Work: Kantuckee

Band That Made Him: AC/DC

Other Projects: AC/DC

Guitar: Gibson SG

Best Known For: Erratic Stage prescence. Back In Black and Hells Bells.

Guitar Accolades: Ranked 96th in Rolling Stones list of 100 Greatest Guitarists (Unfairly) and inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2003

Now comes the hard part. Choosing between these two amazing guitar Gods! Both have the ability, but who is better? Which of these guitarists has influenced you the most? Who has the better technique?
