Hello, and welcome to another weekly riff. Whats with the new name? I hear you ask. Well unfortunately I had to change the old riff of the week name for legal reasons. But be sure that the quality of the content is still going to be the same.
So, onto this weeks riff. I know its another Beatles riff after last week I had I Feel Fine, but I really can't get this song out of my head at the minute and it's a great little riff. In the song the main riff is carried more by the piano, but I think this riff is a great one to learn for a bit of[...]
Hello and welcome to another in the Hero Worship series. Hope you are all ok?
Anyway, this weeks post takes us to 70's Glam Rock in the form of the legendary Marc Bolan. Big hair, big riffs and premature death all make this guitarist and frontman an icon.
What Total Guitar Said:
You Know Him By His: Corkscrew curls, pre-Slash top hat, feather boas and glam rock riffs.
Greatest Moment: 20th Century Boy. Who said galm rock couldn't be heavy?
David Bowie had more staying power and the New York Dolls' burnout tale is more[...]
I was walking through my city centre the other day and noticed something very strange. No, it wasn't the massive concrete playground that failed architects had created. Shops, shops, shops!
The[...]
Hello everyone, hope you're all ok?
This weeks riff comes from the best band that ever graced the popular music scene... The Beatles.
The song I have chosen today for the Riff of The Week, is the great Beatles classic, I Feel Fine This classic guitar riff was written primarily by Lennon, who wanted to write a song around this particular riff that he had written. It was towards the end of the album so everyone else wasn't really too interested until Lennon cam back with the riff, and the song, and it made the album. And thank God it[...]
Ahhhhh well back to life, back to reality.
It seems about a month since I last did a Hero Worship post, but in truth it's probably much longer than that. So, for that, I am sorry.
But enough of me waffling on! Let's get to worshipping some guitar greats. And this weeks guitar god is the one and only Johnny Marr.
What Total Guitar Said:
You Know Him By His: Bittersweet symphonies and inspired songwriting, usually thrashed out on a Rickenbacker, Gibson SG or ES-355
Greatest Moment: The outro of 'the Boy With The Thorn In His[...]
