Well hello there everyone and welcome to another smashing riff. This weeks riff comes from a band that formed in the late 70's and to be honest a band and guitarist that I have not listened too much. In fact the main reason I have chose this particular riff this week is because I was watching a program the other week called Guitar Heroes At The BBC, and this song was on it. It was then I remembered how good a riff it was. I suppose the reason I have always backed away from this band in the past, is because I'm not really Sting's biggest fan.[...]
Well harrow everybody and welcome to another edition of that favourite Guitar Duel! This is a feature on the blog where I put two of the worlds best guitarists and make them fight to the death. Well, not literally, but they have to fight for the readers votes. It's kinda the same. Anyway last weeks duel of White Vs Bellamy did not result in a winner as you lot couldn't decide between them. This weeks duel comes from two of the finest British guitarists ever. Between them they have sold over 400 million albums worldwide and have been in two of[...]
Hello everyone and welcome to another post in the series of Hero Worship, where I take a weekly look at someone who I think is a Guitar Legend. This week is the turn of Blur guitarist, Graham Coxon. A bit different from the flamboyant antics of last weeks Hero, Justin Hawkins. But a Guitar Hero none the less.
Coxon played some amazing guitar and I have already covered one of his classic riffs in the weekly riff section before. From Parklife to Song 2, Coxon has belted out some top quality riffs. So here's what Total Guitar said about[...]
Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of Guitar Duel. Even though it is a day late. Last week saw Angus Young take on Kirk Hammett. Rolling Stone magazine placed Hammett 85 places higher than Young in their 100 Greatest guitarists poll, but you guys didn't see it like that, with Young winning by with 20 votes to Hammetts 13. Woah you guys really felt passionate about that one. They were neck and neck until a few days ago.
Anyway now on to this weeks guitarists.
They come from two of the biggest British bands in Rock n Roll[...]
Alright everyone, hope you had a brilliant weekend. I'm currently skint so no outings to the pub for me :-( Bad Times.
Anyway, as I write this I can already feel that the choice of guitar hero isn't going to go down to well. His band. The Darkness had only one truly successful album, their debut, and they got a lot of stick for prancing around in leotards. But I assure you, if you listen to the music, especially from the album Permission To Land you will find some outstanding guitar playing for a debut album. This weeks Guitar Hero is[...]
