Yes...but I love, no LOVE, Guitar Center. Okay, it's sort of a big box store, which is a true negative, but to me it's more like a lot of little specialty shops under one roof. I can go in and spend the whole day just trying out anything they have. Right now I'm spending a little "get to know you" time with a Taylor accoustic 15/16. The day I tried the Taylor for the first time, I had played probably 15 other models that just didn't fit. And while I'm in the nicely soundproofed Accoustic room my son is trying out the latest in shred gear (which he cannot possibly afford to buy) and my husband is cranking it up in the drum room. See? Something for everyone. The thing is, you have to go often enough to know the staff...then the bene's really kick in. Shops gone? Yes…but I love, no LOVE, Guitar Center. I can completely relate, it is the same in my hometown. But the economy is bad, and as we know, in times of economic stress, it is the arts and music that take the axe. And people don't have the money to treat themselves as much to fun things like musical instruments.
