The Most Beautiful Guitar Songs…Ever!

Right, now this post might seem a little ponsey, and is not what my usual posts are aimed at. Usually it’s about how guitarists make their instrument wail and scream or how hard a particular musician rocks. But I thought it was time we looked at a different side of the guitar. A side that often gets neglected by some bands and guitarists, yet a side that is so vitally important for the guitar. Yes there have been guitar songs that have rocked the fuck out of my ears but there has also been those guitar songs that have soothed them. And this, my friends, is where we acknowledge those beautiful guitar songs. A list to end all other pretty flowery lists. Here’s the most Beautiful Guitar Songs… EVER!

1) Led Zeppelin – Stairway To Heaven

2) Eric Clapton – Tears in Heaven

3) The Beatles – Blackbird

4) Anonymous – Spanish Romance

5) Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under The Bridge

6) Metallica – Nothing Else Matters

7) Anonymous – Greensleaves

8 ) The Eagles – Hotel California

Hope you liked that list. Take the time to listen to those beautiful songs and just relax. There are plenty more beautiful guitar songs out there and I may even post another list, sort of like a part 2.

Bye.

A good list of videos, however, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s seen differently to everyone. Think about it. I know where you’re coming from though, you’re thinking more classics. Mine’s a fight between Nothing Else Matters and Stairway To Heaven.

I really like “John Barleycorn Must Die” as played by Steve Winwood during his Traffic days. The lyrics began as a folklore metaphor for the seed-to-alcohol cycle of barley corn in the early 1500′s. The Winwood version melody is kinda cool all by itself, but combined with the voice and other accompaniment it’s got a strangely beautiful sound.

    Hello!

You should add this wonderful Vinnie Moore classical guitar song to your collection: “Never Been To Barcelona” from the album “The Maze” (1999)

I am still looking for such songs, do you know of guitarists that compose in this style?
