What Guitar Would You Like For Christmas?

Lists by

Ahhhh we’re now in December. I can usually tell from a few things; The bitterly cold wind whilst walking home from the pub, the television is immersed with ‘that’ Coca-Cola advert, there are various LED Christmas lights being put up around my area. But all of these are just little signs. The main give away that we’re nearing close to Christmas is more of a personal one. My sudden want, no need, for a new guitar!

I don’t know if it’s just me or if it is all guitarists, but I could really do with a new guitar this Christmas. In fact one of my friends who runs an online marketplace has told me before, that guitarists are always always always on the look out for a new guitar. Maybe he’s right. Although my sudden yearning always comes around this time of year. Who knows? Maybe there will be a little Les Paul in my stocking that Santa left. Lets hope so icon biggrin What Guitar Would You Like For Christmas?

Anyway this got me thinking of an idea for a new post. What Guitar would you like for Christmas?

Here’s a little list of some of the Guitars that I wouldn’t mind from Santa this year:

Dear Santa, I have been a really good boy this year, and I would like…

1. Gibson CST Les Paul, Silverburst – Yep! Top of my list. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a Les Paul. And definitely a sucker for a Guitar with such beauty as this Silverburst. The first time I saw this guitar was at the hands of Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) as he was prancing round stage at the BRIT awards one year. It was beautiful, which was more than I could say for his leotard! And I know that this guitar is shiny, glitzy and a bit flashy. But a Ferrari is all of those things, and I for one would definitely not say no to one of those. So I suppose if any of you generous folk out there want to buy me one of these then you’re going to need deep pockets, as this baby comes in at around £2,699/$4,499!

2. Epiphone Casino Natural – This is second on my list, and it is somewhat of a new love. I never used to be a massive fan of the semi-acoustic guitars and thought they were rather pointless. But around a year or two ago with a trip to my local guitar shop, I found myself playing one of these babies. Ever since then I have just loved them and wanted one. Another reason that’s swayed me towards the Casino is the fact its played by alot of my favourite bands and guitarists! Yes. I am that easily persuaded. Noel Gallagher has one, The Beatles had them, And now I want one! Luckily this one is much closer to my price range than the Silverburst Les Paul. It comes in at about £449/$749. So let’s hope Santa has enough money for this one, or I could just get another Student Overdraft and get it….hmm thats not actually a bad idea.

3. Gibson J-200 Standard Natural – This is a beauty. I do love beautiful guitars. This has been on my wish list for a long long time. This is Noel Gallaghers favoured guitar for his acoustic gigs (Even though his is in sunburst) I do love the sunburst model, but I’m really into the natural look at the minute, I think it brings such a different beauty to it. I also think the pickguard looks amazing on this particular model, and once again Gibson has excelled itself. And once again you pay for the excellent finish and quality. This one rolls in at around £2,699/$4,499 just like the Silverburst Les Paul. Ah well there’s always next year. If I sell a Kidney!

4. Rickenbacker 325/C64 – Yes Yes you have read me like a book. Uncontrollable Beatles fan so of course Lennon’s Rickenbackers going to be in here! I have longed for this guitar for so long. I think this guitars beauty lies in the fact it differs from a lot of guitars out there. And of course the fact that Lennon played it. I was quite surprised though, when I found out the price of one of these Bad Boys. It comes in at £2,999/$4,995! Ouch.

5. Gibson Dark Fire – When Gibson first bought out this guitar in 2008, I was truly amazed. I remember being on their website and spending hours upon hours watching their various videos, reading their product reviews and general drooling over how good this guitar technology was. A guitar that tunes itself, perfect for the live shows and for different tunings. Now, I know that Gibson have produced another “Robot Guitar” which is set to come out next week called Dusk Tiger. I have put the Dark Fire on my list instead, because I’m not a massive fan of the look of the Dusk Tiger, and they are only making 1000 so the chances of me getting my hands on one are about 2,000,000,000/1. I’m no mathematician but even I know that those chances are slim. So I’ll stick with the Dark Fire where my chances are probably more like 2,000,000/1. I’ll take them odds! The Dark Fire prices at £2,399/$3,995, which I expected to be much higher if I’m honest.

I totally love all of your choices and would love all five of those guitars too! but I probably wouldn’t put a les paul at the top, I would put a strat, a tele, or a danelectro, cuz I already have a les paul.
