Hello Readers,
This is another poll of the week. Last weeks poll on the greatest guitaring decade was won by the 1980′s. Thanks for all that voted.

Anyway I was going to start a series of polls on who was the greatest guitarist in each of the decades, but I was reading an article about Eric Clapton the other day and whether he still matters. So it got me thinking about British guitarists, and their influence on the guitar, and ultimately who was the best British Guitarist.
So share your thoughts in the weekly poll and in the comments. Also feel free to hear any of these guitarists samples to make you make up your mind above.

Seems a bit too 60s-centric to me. What about including Johnny Marr or John Squire?

I knew that I would be in danger of veing too 60′s. Dammit! They were definately two guitarists that I looked at but I could only have 10 options, and some people aren’t going to be happy either way. I maybe should have included some newer guitarists though.
I will not vote on this poll, is impossible to tell who is better, they are all great, I have my favorite on this list, but I can’t say that him is better than the others is just diferent.

I understand thiantinio, Ok then heres another question for you. Who has done the most for the guitar and for Britain as a musical nation?
I believe that was the Eric Clapton and Jimmy Paige, but I can not think of British guitarist and not remember Albert Lee, he is amazing.

I suppose Clapton, Richards and Townshend sort of all came together with the British Invasion of America

Yeah I reckon Clapton shades it. Even though the article I read said that younger generations didn’t respect him at all as he’s mainly remember for just being slow these days
were is Brian May?

I was going to put him in there but decided against it for some reason. Suppose I should have put an “other” option there
One of my favorite artists, thank you! You can find loads of their music this over at this site
Dude, you really should have put brian may in there i reckon he was the best
Clapton. Nuff said. I’ll let you know if he’s lost anything over the years…seeing him in New York Feb. 19th.

Sue stop rubbing it in that you’re seeing Clapton
Rubbing it in? I’m still pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming or on some really bitchin’ trip. But hey, you’re in good company since I’m sure I’m driving everyone nuts and will continue to until I’ve gotten this out of my system!
